TotalEnergies and the Institut Français in the UAE conducts successfully 2nd Youth Hackathon for students
TotalEnergies and the Institut Français in the UAE conducted the 2nd Youth Hackathon on the causes and consequences of climate change in collaboration with La Fresque du Climat. 30 students from 5 universities - Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, Khalifa University, UAE University, University of Sharjah and 42 Abu Dhabi enthusiastically participated this year.
During two days, the students had to investigate and understand the causes and consequences of climate change in order to build a sustainable strategy for their Universities to present to the jury during the closing ceremony.
Elias Kassis, TotalEnergies in the UAE Country Chair co-chaired with H.E. Xavier Chatel, Ambassador of France as jury to select the winning entries from the students.
TotalEnergies in the UAE as part of TotalEnergies Foundation’s initiatives to promote Youth Inclusion and Education is committed to provide opportunities for young students to share knowledge with experts, innovate and improve their academic skills and put it into practice. Overall, our objectives with #TotalEnergies Foundation is to empower young people to take control of their future and to play a key role in the development of their communities post academics.
Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi hosted the event in their campus and Dr Laurence Renault, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Sorbonne University welcomed the dignitaries at the closing ceremony.
Presenting and distributing the certificate of participation to the students along with ambassador of France H.E. Xavier Chatel, Elias Kassis said that this 2-days session of TotalEnergies Youth Hackathon resulted in achieving a great amount of confidence and team spirit to the students. It was inspiring to hear creative pitches on the universities future sustainable strategies from the Youth taking into account the #SDGs toward #COP28.
