Total recognized as Distinguished Connect Partner by Emirates Foundation

Total was acknowledged as a Distinguished Connect Partner for the success of the Think Science Fair 2015. Mr. Hatem Nuseibeh, President Total EP United Arab Emirates and Group Representative in the UAE received the award from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Foreign Minister and Chairman of Emirates Foundation on behalf of TOTAL E&P United Arab Emirates for its support to Think Science Fair 2015 at an awards ceremony held on Monday May 25, 2015.

More than 60 young Emirati scientists were recognized as part of the Think Science Competition for their innovations and ideas in the fields of science and technology. 

The Think Science Competition is a key part of the Think Science Fair, which took place from May 5 to 7 and includes both a competition for public and private schools and a university competition. The winning projects, which were entered in nine categories for schools and three categories for universities, were chosen from more than 200 submissions representing the work of more than 550 Emirati youth. 

Think Science is one of Emirates Foundation’s programs that creates a strong link between young people and the business sector in the UAE and aims to spark Emirati youth’s interest in science & technology (S&T) with a view to encouraging them to study science and technology and follow a career in this area.

Speaking at the event, Sheikh Abdullah said he was deeply impressed by the motivation, determination and talent of the Emirati youth who took part in the competition.

Total’s presence in the Think Science fair was an opportunity for it to interact and exchange with students from local and international schools and universities. The event was a platform to encourage talented young people to take an interest in science to support the UAE’s progress and development into a knowledge based economy.

 The participating youth’s were able to  interact with hands on activities in science, engineering, oil and gas, energy, aviation and technology sectors showcased  by leading companies and organizations from the science and technology field.
