Total showcases its renewable might at WFES 2020
The 13th edition of World Future Energy Summit (WFES) was held in Abu Dhabi from 13-16 January 2020. The WFES is part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week held every year in Abu Dhabi under the leadership of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Aligning with the theme “Rethinking Global Consumption, Production and Investment” Total stand A410 attracted continuous stream of visitors during the 4 days of the summit.
Senior delegates from Total included Julien Pouget, Senior Vice President, Gas Renewables and Power and Christophe Sassolas, President Total E&P UAE and Laurent Chevalier, Vice President Gas Middle East for Renewables and Power. A strong presence of Total Solar Middle East team under the leadership of Marin de Montbel, Managing Director Total Solar Middle East, was present in the stand that had exhibits projecting grids, clean energy, and emerging technologies. Delegates from SunPower, Total ERAN and Total GRP also attended.
Distinguished visitors to Total stand included H.E. Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Industry, H.E. Ibrahim Boubacar Keita,President of Mali, H.E. Ludovic Pouille, French Ambassador to the UAE and Yaser Al Mazrouei, Executive Director, ADNOC Upstream.
The key panel “As renewables rise, does flexibility surpass baseload for grid stabilization?” was held on the opening day by Remi Bourgeois, Total Chief Operating Officer, Gas Renewables & Power was well attended and received by the delegates.
Total’s Deep Offshore Glider exhibited at the stand was a star attraction of the exhibition and was featured in the local news and TV.
