Total launches its 4th edition of Truck Drivers Campaign

Total launched the 4th edition of its Truck Drivers Campaign on Monday, January 20th, alongside Dubai Police delegations to educate the drivers on safety regulations and proper heavy vehicle maintenance.

The ‘Truck Drivers Campaign’ is an initiative that highlights four main topics: how to stay safe on the roads, the importance of being medically fit, the regulations to follow in regards of speed limits, and the proper maintenance of the vehicles to ensure they are in good condition.

The campaign’s activities were introduced by Colonel Juma Salim Bin Suwaidan, Deputy Director of the Dubai Police’s Traffic Department, in the presence of Colonel Mohammed Ali Karam, Director of Traffic Technologies Department, a number of traffic officers, and Christophe Sassolas, President Total E&P UAE and Total Country Chair in the UAE.

A large tent was set up at the Fruit & Vegetable Market in Al Aweer where drivers were able to undergo medical check-ups, receive tips on defensive driving, and have an elementary vehicle check-up (brake test and tire condition inspection) by an accredited team from Road Transport Authority.

Road Safety kits including a reflective jacket, safety triangle, first aid kit and a tire pressure test device were distributed to the drivers during the campaign.

Total is committed to improve transportation operations where it operates and Total Foundation is a donor partner of Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF).  The objective of this campaign and our partnership with Dubai Police is to achieve Zero fatality on our roads.  The campaign has a long-term aim to continue to raise awareness about the main causes of accidents involving heavy goods vehicles.

We hope, together with Dubai Police awareness campaigns, we can efficiently improve the road safety behaviours in the right direction to achieve this goal.

The activities were organised by Total UAE in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Municipality, Insurance Authority, Aster Hospital and Essilor.
